Let's Talk Texture

Everyone loves that just-woke-up, bedhead look. Well, at least, I love that just-woke-up, bedhead look. The best part about it, is that if I take the time to do my hair on Monday, with the right arsenal of product, I can go the rest of the week (don't judge me!) effortlessly waking up 30 minutes later than usual, shaking my head upside down, and running out the door to catch my train.

Another great thing about these products is that I really believe that they are universal, and can be used on fine hair, limp hair, frizzy hair, or thick hair to help perk up and refresh any style.

Here are my top three texturizing products

PARLOR by Jeff Chastain Moisturizing Sea Salt Spray If you want to save your strands from heat damage, this sea salt spray is a great product to let your hair air dry with. The best part? It won't give you that crunchy look you can get from other sea salt sprays! Fun fact: this is my number one favorite hair scent to date.

Oribe Après Beach Wave & Shine Spray I love this spray thanks to its 2-in-1 benefit: texture and shine. While I would love to run away to the Caribbean simply for the beachy hair, alas, I am stuck in New Jersey and Oribe will have to do. And honestly, I'm okay with that!

Amika Un.Done Texture Spray Amika has this amazing, uplifting, fresh scent across their entire line that I cannot get enough of. Now let's get to the nitty gritty - although there is no gritty feel left behind with this powerful little baby. I love spraying this all around, not just at the root, for an effortless style that stays all day. Also, having this packing on my bathroom shelf just makes the whole room prettier.

Weekly Catch-Up

Even with an extra day in the sun, this weekend was super busy! I hope everyone enjoyed their (hopefully) beautiful Memorial Day with lots of loved ones, delicious food, and gave a thought to what the day is really about; remembering and appreciating those who have served our country.

I wish I had just one more day off from work, but -sigh- the show must go on. Let's procrastinate with some photos from the past week, shall we?

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to the most kind-hearted, loving, and hard-working lady I know. Raising 3 kids on your own was not easy (especially with a nut like me), but you somehow got us all to where we are today. I know I can speak for all of us when I say there are no amount of thank you's that can fully express our gratitude to you.

To all the mommies out there, have a beautiful day.

Mid-week pick-me-up

I found this written on the first page of my most recent journal, although it had to be from over a year ago. I could have never imaged at the time writing this, that I'd be where I am today. I should focus on phrases like these more often. I often feel lost, and I often feel confused. It's as though I'll never be truly settled into life. But maybe life isn't supposed to have a conclusion. There are no rules, and the path I'm on can (and will) always change. I like it that way. Each and every day, I am where I need to be.

Monday Hair-spiration

Oh my! How am I letting this blog get away from me for a week?? I know...because I am crazy busy and have exciting prospects on the horizon. Back to work...

Does anyone have the luxury to be able to wear a flower crown on the reg? I would love to be walking through the grocery store and spot a beauty looking like this... le sigh.

The Most Delicious DIY Lip Scrub

Happy April my loves! With warm weather (hopefully) on the way soon, you'll need to keep that pout looking smooth and supple. I've made an easy, natural lip scrub with ingredients you can find in your pantry!

This is really a very simple lip scrub that anyone can do! I took organic coconut oil, raw honey (you can also use standard, refined honey, I just prefer the consistency of raw), brown sugar, and some apricot oil (you can also omit this, or replace it with any other oil you have).

Place two parts brown sugar to one part raw honey and one part coconut oil into a small bowl. I added about two drops of apricot oil. Combine!

Once all of the ingredients are incorporated, roll into a small ball and place in any airtight container. This should keep up to two weeks. Now go scrub away and enjoy beautiful, soft lips!
